Common questions

Can you visit both Garmisch and Berchtesgaden in one trip?
Yes — they sit at opposite ends of the Bavarian Alps, about two to three hours apart, and a 7-day Bavaria loop pairs them well: Garmisch for the Zugspitze and castles, Berchtesgaden for the Königssee. Give each at least two nights.
Which is closer to Neuschwanstein and the castles?
Garmisch — Neuschwanstein and Füssen are an easy drive or train ride to the west, making it the natural base for combining mountains and castles. Berchtesgaden is in the far southeast, closer to Salzburg.
