Lake Bled
Slovenia's storybook icon — an island church under a clifftop castle.
Lake Bled is the picture that sells Slovenia: a teardrop island with a wishing-bell church, a medieval castle on a cliff, and the Julian Alps behind. It's touristy by Slovenian standards but still genuinely magical, walkable, and the easiest, most rewarding base for a first trip into the Julian Alps.
